Ever wish you had a mama friend in your back pocket who wasn't afraid to talk about poop, vaginal infections, skin rashes, behavioral issues and everything in between? Someone who speaks about common symptoms clearly and gives you natural ideas of how to actually heal from the root (hello gut bacteria!) instead of masking? And I am not talking about essential oils here. While those have their place, I am talking deeper stuff - like causes, prevention and finding overall balance. As a mama to four I have gone through the ups and downs of sleepless nights, undiagnosed symptoms, gotten the complete runaround from the medical system and have found a different way. This podcast will empower you to heal your family. New episodes will be released every Tuesday morning. They will be short enough that you can probably time them perfectly with your cold cup of coffee and dry shampoo routine. Make sure you are subscribed so you automatically get my latest episodes. Preparing your body for rebalancing is one of the most powerful things you can do to support deep, lasting healing. This is a foundational part of the process, because when your drainage pathways are open, your body can more efficiently eliminate the waste released as harmful bacteria, yeast, mold, parasites, and toxins are cleared out.
As you begin rebalancing, your body starts clearing out harmful bacteria, yeast, mold, fungus, and parasites. And as these overgrowths die off, they release toxins that your body needs to flush. This is a natural part of the healing process. But if your drainage pathways aren’t open, those toxins can begin recirculating through your body rather than being eliminated. This is often what leads to something called “die-off” where symptoms like fatigue, headaches, breakouts, or feeling a little worse before you feel better. While we can’t always prevent die-off completely, preparing your body and opening your drainage pathways can really help minimize the intensity and shorten the duration. And overall really enhance your healing experience.
Opening your pathways doesn’t have to be complicated. In fact, it should feel simple and deeply supportive. This means adopting a few gentle practices that work with your body to activate your lymphatic system, support your liver and kidneys, and encourage elimination through your skin, breath, and digestion. You’re not forcing anything. You’re simply making space for healing to flow more easily.
Your body is designed to detox naturally, every single day. But when there’s an imbalance in the gut, those detox systems can become sluggish or overwhelmed. Part of rebalancing is about supporting these detox systems so that once your body is in balance your body is able to do it’s job efficiently and optimally.
I am going to walk you through a few gentle practices you can start doing today. You don’t have to do them all, just choose what feels supportive for you or your child and your season of life.
Dry Brushing
Let’s start with dry brushing. This is one of the simplest and most effective ways to stimulate your lymphatic system and support daily detoxification. Your lymphatic system is responsible for moving waste, toxins, and even excess fluid out of your tissues. But unlike your heart, which pumps on its own, your lymphatic system needs movement to work well. When it becomes sluggish or stagnant (meaning that lymph fluid isn’t flowing freely) waste can build up and make you feel puffy, tired, or inflamed. Dry brushing helps get that fluid moving again. It activates your body’s natural detox process through your skin, which is one of your largest detox organs.
There are many beautiful dry brushes out there - you just want to make sure the one you choose is made from natural materials and nothing synthetic. The Pathway Dry Brush is a beautiful option, and if you want to learn more about exactly how to dry brush, listen to Episode 129: Dry Brushing 101: Everything You Need to Know.
Hydration
Next is hydration. This one is so simple but so essential. Your body cannot flush toxins if it doesn’t have enough water to carry them out. Staying well hydrated supports your kidneys, your liver, your lymphatic system, and your digestion. All of which are key players in your body’s natural detox process. During rebalancing, I recommend aiming for 80 to 96 ounces of filtered water every day.
For children, be intentional. If they’re still breastfeeding, nurse frequently. If they’re not, find ways to make water more inviting. Add frozen berries. Try the lemonade recipe from my cookbook. Maybe offer a fun reusable straw. Get creative, but don’t be intimidated. You are simply creating opportunities. Most of the time, children will begin drinking more water naturally as their bodies begin to heal.
I also highly recommend coconut water. And if you have Remineralize, this is a great time to start incorporating it. Hydration isn’t just about water. It’s also about minerals. Without minerals, your body can’t actually absorb and use the water you’re drinking. So this step is really about nourishing your cells so they can do what they were designed to do.
Epsom Salt Baths
Another powerful way to support your body’s detox pathways is through Epsom salt baths. These baths help your body absorb magnesium through your skin, which supports over 300 processes in the body, including elimination, nervous system regulation, and deep relaxation. Magnesium also helps ease muscle tension, improve sleep, and calm inflammation, making it especially supportive during rebalancing.
If you’ve been using plain Epsom salts, that’s a beautiful place to start. But I’m also so excited to share something we’ve created to take this ritual even deeper. Soak is our new mineral bath blend, designed specifically to support your body during rebalancing. It helps you release more efficiently, soothes the skin, and deepens your healing experience.
Whether you use Epsom salts or Soak, try to make this a regular part of your rhythm. Every day is wonderful, but even a few times a week can make a big difference. Let it be a moment of calm. A pause in your day where your body can release what it no longer needs.
Scalp Cleansing
Cleansing your scalp is another beautiful way to support detoxification. The scalp is a powerful place of release. It produces sebum, which can help carry out toxins and waste as your body begins to heal. During rebalancing, it’s common for the scalp to become more active, sometimes releasing yeast or other overgrowths through the skin. This is why supporting your scalp’s microbiome can be so helpful.
One gentle practice is to scrub your scalp with Wash before shampooing. This helps pull impurities out and targets overgrowths like yeast without disrupting your skin’s natural balance. Just lather a little between your hands, massage it into your scalp, and rinse before using your regular non-toxic shampoo.
You can also rinse with apple cider vinegar after conditioning. You simply dilute ½ cup of apple cider vinegar with ½ cup of water and pour it over your scalp and then thoroughly rinse it out. The pH of apple cider vinegar is very close to that of your scalp and hair, making it a beautiful way to support scalp health and keep this important pathway of detoxification open.
Morning Lemon Water
Another simple way to support your body during rebalancing is to start your day with warm lemon water. This helps wake up your digestive system, hydrate your cells after a night of fasting, and gently support your liver in flushing out waste. It also encourages healthy bile flow, which is essential for carrying toxins out of the body.
All you need to do is squeeze half a lemon into a glass of warm water and drink it first thing in the morning, before eating. If you’re rebalancing your child, you can add a little maple syrup to make it lemonade.
It may feel like such a small thing, but these gentle, nourishing habits make a big impact over time. Your body responds in ways you may not even see right away. Healing doesn’t have to be hard. Sometimes it begins with something as simple as a warm cup of lemon water at the start of your day.
Sun Exposure
Spending time in the sun is another powerful way to support your body during rebalancing. Sunlight helps your body produce vitamin D, which plays a huge role in immune function, inflammation, and your ability to fight off harmful overgrowths in the gut. It also supports your skin’s natural barrier, encourages healthy hormone production, and helps regulate digestion.
Aim for some gentle sun exposure every day, especially in the morning. Let your skin and eyes take in natural light without sunglasses or sunscreen for at least a few minutes, if possible. This doesn’t have to be hours outside. Just a few intentional minutes can help signal safety to your nervous system and activate healing pathways within your body.
Let it be simple. Open a window. Step outside with your tea. Let the light touch your skin. Take off your baby’s diaper and let them soak up some rays on their bum.
Sweating
Sweating is one of the most natural and effective ways your body eliminates toxins. When you sweat, you give your body another route for release, helping to clear out what is being stirred up as overgrowths are broken down.
You don’t need to overexert yourself. In fact, please don’t. You don’t want to do intense workouts or push your body beyond its limits right now. Gentle movement, a short walk, yoga, or sitting in a sauna can all support your body in releasing through the skin. Even a warm bath can help promote a light sweat.
Tune in and find what feels good in your body. The goal is not to force anything. It is simply to encourage your body to keep moving what it no longer needs.
Gentle Movement
Movement is a beautiful way to support your body’s natural detox pathways. It helps stimulate your lymphatic system, encourages circulation, and supports your body in releasing toxins. But again, this doesn’t mean pushing yourself or doing anything intense. The most healing movement is often the most gentle.
My absolute favorite is restorative yoga on the Down Dog app. They are calm, grounding, and so supportive during rebalancing. Even ten minutes can make a difference.
Walking outside, stretching, or swaying to music in your kitchen all count. Let it feel good in your body. Let it be something you look forward to. Movement should support your healing, not drain you. Which leads us perfectly into the next way to prepare your body.
Nervous System Support
Your nervous system plays a major role in how your body heals. When you’re stuck in a stress response, even at a low level, your body prioritizes survival instead of repair. This can slow detoxification, block drainage, and keep your body from fully receiving the healing support you’re giving it.
One of the most powerful ways to support your nervous system is through your breath. Deep, intentional breathing tells your body that you are safe. It opens the door for healing. This can be as simple as placing a hand on your heart, closing your eyes, and taking five deep breaths. This is really powerful for children. You holding your child and doing this for and with them.
You can also explore gentle practices like stretching, journaling, grounding your feet on the earth, or simply sitting in stillness for a few moments each day.
Rest and Sleep
Rest is one of the most overlooked yet essential parts of healing. Your body does so much of its detoxification and repair work while you sleep. But when you’re caring for a child, managing daily life, or navigating symptoms, getting deep rest can feel like a luxury.
It’s okay if sleep isn’t perfect right now. Focus on what you can do. Go to bed earlier when possible. Create a calming nighttime rhythm. Dim the lights, commit to no screen time, and let your body unwind. Even short moments of rest throughout the day can be powerful. Take a few deep breaths, close your eyes, or lie down for five minutes and just be still. That is healing too.
Commit to the Process
Now that you know how to support your body before rebalancing, it’s time to commit to the process. Not with pressure. Not with perfection. But with trust.
You are not just taking supplements. You are healing. You are releasing what your or your child’s body has been carrying, sometimes for years. You are creating a new rhythm of nourishment, of connection, of trust in your body’s wisdom.
The Women’s and Children’s Gut Rebalance Kits come with free access to my course. This course walks you through every step. This episode on how to prepare is embedded right at the beginning. From there, you’ll learn what to expect, what foods to eat and avoid, and how to know when your body is fully in balance.
If you don’t already have my cookbook, definitely grab a copy. The digital version is only $14.99 and I promise you it is worth it a hundred times over. It is designed to simplify the entire food side of your journey. Healing becomes so much easier when you’re not constantly wondering what to eat.
This is also your time to swap out the products in your home that aren’t supporting your healing. Trade your skincare for microbiome-friendly options like the Facial Flora and Body Biome Kits. Replace over-the-counter medications with Balance CBD. Switch to clean, fragrance-free detergents and non-toxic cleaners. These shifts may feel small, but together they create an environment where healing becomes not only possible, but inevitable.
And most importantly, believe that this will work. Even if nothing else ever has. Don’t leave room for doubt. Decide that your body can heal. That your child’s body can heal. That rebalancing is the path forward. This is a proven method. And when you allow your head to step aside and let your body lead, you will heal.
When your supplements arrive, hold them close to your heart and say,
“I am so happy I finally found true healing. I am so happy my body, or my child’s body, is healed with this.”
Let it be simple. Let it work. Let the past go and open your heart to the transformation that is about to unfold.
You are doing something incredible. You are saying yes to healing. You are creating a new legacy of health for yourself and your family.
You’ve got this!
